The Moments (Poem by Me)

So babes, I told you I wrote you a poem, here goes.

The day I saw your sweet picture
I was in love.

The moment I saw you in mommy's arms
My heart grew happy.
The moment you sat in daddy's lap.
I could tell you loved him
The moment I saw the video
I cried happy tears
The moments we passed through
Full of fears
Were all worth it.
The moment I sang you a lullaby
I knew you were my Pumpkin

The moment the judge said yes.
The world knew.
The moment you stepped foot
Of the orphanage
Our prayers were answered
The moment I saw pictures of you
You were ours,
Our families,
My brother,
You are my Vahnya.
And My love for you
Is never ending
Never fading
Always there
I love you Pumkin!
Good Night!
Love your sissy, Manda.

One week..

Hey Pumpkin, it's early Friday morning here.
And there's a week until you come home in mommy's and "papa dada's" arms!
I can't wait!
Litteraly sweet heart, I am like shaking! I think I tried to describe this feeling before. But its like I'm a kid on Christmas Eve. To excited to go to sleep! (exactly how i feel and its a week away!)
I just know you are everything I've imagined and dreamed! You are so handsome bud!
You have lots of people here waiting to snuggle and kiss your sweet cheeks! I can't stand looking at your pictures and not being able to hold you! I just want to reach into the computer screen and grab a hold of you and never let go! EVER!
Pumpky, my heart longs to hold you near. It has for the past year and few weeks.
Your red hair is like fire, babes. And your smile inspires me everyday I look at your picture!
I know you love mama and dada, i can tell. I talked to you over the phone a few days ago, you couldn't quite comprehend it, so I sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to you. :)
You love your music toy, and from what mommy has told me, you absolutely LOVE the bath! :)
I love you Pumpkin!
Just wait ONE MORE WEEK and we can hold each other!
All Snuglely in your soft jammas.

after your first bath!

You are a ham!
I also wrote a poem for you. Its really sloppy and messy though since I just wrote it..
I'll post it later.

Worth the WAit!!! ("Gotcha" Day!!!!!!)!

Today was "Gotcha" day. Mommy took you out of the baby home. From the pictures you seem to love being with mommy, and Anya. You have the best hair color EVER!
We 'met' for the first time today through Skype. (oh how i love technology.) You were so energetic. You wanted to go play with Anya instead of sitting on Mommy's lap. But you loved when we all sang "Itsy Bitsy Spider" to you. You dropped your ducky and said "Opa!" Mommy picked it up and you threw down again. Mommy said that you ran around the apartment when you got there.
In about 2 weeks I will see you, and hold you in my arms.
Here are the pictures most of you have been waiting for..
Your last time in the Baby Home.
In the car with Anya.

Mommy made these T-shirts as a fundraiser for your adopted friends.

See Anya has the same one.

You two were definatly worth the wait!

So I think this is my all time favorite picture..

Getting to know each other.

Look at how beautiful she is!

You two will be best friends! :)

CUTENESS!!!

Yes! You were worth the wait Pumpkin!!!!

Happy World Down Syndrome Day 2011!!!

A YEAR?

It's been a year.... In some aspects it's hard to believe but in others it's like 'Look at what we've accomplished!'
Last year on this Amazing day March 10 (Mommy's Birthday) our family took off on an amazing journey to bring you home, Pumpkin. It started off smooth, we were hitting all the marks.
The paperwork and SW finding went well.
On April 17, our home study took place. Oh boy did we clean! I have never cleaned that much in my life!!! When our SW got here she looked through the house, made sure we were 'good' people. The part that I was dreading then came, One-on-one talk with the SW. I thought it was gonna go downhill, that she wouldn't like one of us, or maybe she wouldn't like the attitude of the person who said it.
I remember this clear as day.
It was my turn and since MaeMae didn't talk very well, I volunteered to go with her and 'translate' her baby talk for the SW, I was sitting in a black office chair. My palms were sweating (first time ever, and only time since) It was very nerve-racking. But it was all for you Pumpkin. She asked simple questions it was no big deal. She asked if I played softball, What I thought about adopting you, and What I would do to help you/teach you. The hard part was over.
Then we hit some turbulence, when our SW left for vacation in the month of May, which put us behind a month. It was at least the middle of June before we got any news on the home study.
While we waited for HS news we worked on the Dossier. Which I didn't even know how to pronounce. By the time July swung around we were Aposilling things. Or notarizing them. Then once we sent our dossier and other info to your country. Waited.....and waited....and waited....waited and waited......Until one day we got news that the people in your country went over your stuff, More turbulence, we had to redo something. We waited another long while.
October 26 is a day that I'll never forget, Pumpky. The day mommy got THE phone call!!! I was getting home from school, I walked in, found mommy on the phone, once she hung up the call I walked towards her, tears overfilled in my eyes... and in mommy's eyes too. She would meet you!
You are the joy that keeps us happy.

Mommy and daddy left to meet you on November 15th, 2010. You had just turned 3. And You were everything mommy and daddy (and I) could ask for. Mommy and daddy loved on you.
Then On February 1st, 2011 Mommy and daddy got their court date! For March 1st.
March 1st is the day you became a Nine. :) The day you were declared my brother!
Mommy will be in your country again in less than a week with Heather ( who I told you about ).
Daddy will join mommy in 1 and a half weeks and then Pumky. Only then Will you fly home!
While we are still up in the air now, we will be safely landing at home with you cradled in our arms.

I Love you x1,000,000!
Love Sissy!

Hey Pumpkin. I'm just laying here on my bed listening to Casting Crowns. I'm actually suposed to be asleep its 1 in the morning but for some reason I just can't. I don't know why, maybe it's because I just finished 2 essays, or maybe it's because of the word I heard at church today, or perhaps because of all the things going on around me. But I'm reminded to "Praise him in the storm!" Whatever the reason I am up right now, it's for a reason.
Pumpkin. Last Wednesday March 1, 2011. You became my brother, I mean to me you have ALWAYS been my brother, but the judge in your country told mommy and daddy that you are my LEGAL brother. Which is EXCITING! You will come to America in less than a month. Mommy travels back to your country in a little longer than a week, where she will meet Heather, Anya's mommy, and you get to meet beautiful Anya, in person!
Little brother, You don't know how hard it is for me to sit here waiting for you! It's crazy! I feel like a 5 year old on Christmas Eve waiting in exciment and axiousness to reveal the inside of the wrapping. Or the night before we leave for our vacation to the beach, or going to Toy's R Us at 6 years old in the Barbie isle knowing I get to go home with one or two if I can persuade daddy to buy me both. But with more joy, More EXCITEMENT! More hapiness! Little brother, I am actually shaking, with excitement!
All I can say is WOW! A year ago, mommy and daddy first saw your sweet face, and now we are almost close to the end of this journey, but it's not really the end of the journey, more like the end of a chapter, or book. Closing the book of your life in an orphanage, and Writing the first chapter of life here, with us. I actually start to get teary-eyed when I think of your home coming. Like seriously!! I can't wait!
I need to get planning your home-coming party! ;)
All the talk around here is about you. I saw people today at church look over to our row (which our family fills up really fast.) to see if you were there, I guess they don't stay updated, haha.
Okay I told you I was listening to Casting Crowns so I couldn't not post some lyrics:
This one means alot right now......
(this is only PART of the song)

United States of America
Looks like another silent night
As we're sung to sleep by philosophies
That save the trees and kill the children
And while we're lying in the dark
There's a shout heard 'cross the eastern sky
For the Bridegroom has returned
And has carried His bride away in the night

America, what will we miss while we are sleeping
Will Jesus come again
And leave us slumbering where we lay
America, will we go down in history
As a nation with no room for its King
Will we be sleeping
Will we be sleeping

United States of America
Looks like another silent night

It's a really important song.

I love you!
More than the Bright Shining Stars!

Spread the Word to End the Word.

Today is Spread the Word to End the Word.
Spread the Word to End the Word is an on-going effort to raise the consciousness of society about the dehumanizing and hurtful effects of the word "retard(ed)" and encourage people to pledge to stop using the R-word.

My little brother is not STUPID, he learns, he thinks, he talks, he walks, he does alot of things and isn't even close to being STUPID.

Does he look stupid to you??

What I don't understand is, why are we called out on using racist words but when some one says the R-word they act like its no big deal. Well, people it is. It doesn't only hurt my brother, but me and my whole family as well. It hurts people who have special needs and their friends. It hurts more people than you can imagine.

Why are people with DS and other needs so looked down upon in society? Why can't be share love and joy? Why can't people do unto to others as they would like for them to do to them??
All these questions fill my mind.
But there is one orginazation That is spreading the word to end the word.
And I pledge to do so, on behalf of my 3 year old brother.

Look at that Smile! :)

I love you baby boy. Always have, Always Will.
Love Sissy
