Spread the Word to End the Word is an on-going effort to raise the consciousness of society about the dehumanizing and hurtful effects of the word "retard(ed)" and encourage people to pledge to stop using the R-word.
My little brother is not STUPID, he learns, he thinks, he talks, he walks, he does alot of things and isn't even close to being STUPID.

What I don't understand is, why are we called out on using racist words but when some one says the R-word they act like its no big deal. Well, people it is. It doesn't only hurt my brother, but me and my whole family as well. It hurts people who have special needs and their friends. It hurts more people than you can imagine.
Why are people with DS and other needs so looked down upon in society? Why can't be share love and joy? Why can't people do unto to others as they would like for them to do to them??
All these questions fill my mind.
But there is one orginazation That is spreading the word to end the word.
And I pledge to do so, on behalf of my 3 year old brother.
